THE GREATER CLEVELAND CONFERENCE
CLEVELAND, OHIO
WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY

The Greater Cleveland Conference holds as its main objective the belief that every organization needs time to occasionally regroup, relax  and connect once again to its own ideals. In Alcoholics Anonymous as such, this event is far more than a casual reunion: It is a celebration of our way of life. Coming together as one, this weekend affords us the opportunity to share in the AA experience in a brand new way.

Conventions and conferences in Ohio are numerous. A prevalent and erroneous notion is that these gatherings are meetings of Alcoholics Anonymous. Though inspired by our wonderful fellowship, where “There are no dues or fees for AA membership,”  the Greater Cleveland Conference, as an event, requires months of planning and preparation. Fulfilling all our financial responsibilities is a crucial aspect of this process. Reserving facilities in a hotel and the expenses associated with such facilities are only a fraction of the financial planning. To this end, a committee is in place to coordinate all facets of organization for this conference. The speakers who are invited, often times from other states, are indeed our guests. Absorbing their travel and lodging expenses are part of the plan. In addition, various expenses in the way of promotion are vital to the successful completion of this event.

The Greater Cleveland Conference is completely self-supporting and thus, does not use any money or financial contributions from local groups of Alcoholics Anonymous.  The ticket sales and registration fees fully cover all our expenses. As responsible members, we pay our own way.  In the tradition of many groups, we are more than happy to break even when all is said and done.
